December 2011 Lisbon

See here my monkeyfishes in a christmas tree! My first Christmas celebrating in Lisbon, Portugal. Far far away from my own dear family. Perhaps that explains the 'darkness' and the none smiling faces of the monkey fishes in my drawing ;) but I had fun and lots of food!! Love the food of my mother in law! Wishing everybody the best for 2012 and will all you wishes come true!



Symmetric Structure

September 2011 Amsterdam

Intriged by the symmetric patterns of the dutch graphic artist MC Escher in the palace in The Hague, I tried to create a symmetry in a chaotic mess of figures. Normally my little creatures spin around and pop up everywhere, but I am trying to find a structure or a setting to put them in (like the drawing 'Pirate Boat'). After all I am dutch and structure is what the dutch are famous for! I tried to catch the feeling when you are in an airplane flying aboc the Netherlands and look out of the window: the dutch landscape organized and structured in some sort of grid.

Interactive Live Painting

A furnished white room was transformed into a room full of my drawings and paintings. Next to the presentation of my own work, I created black outline drawings on furniture and canvasses in association with the visitors who filled the outlines with coloured paint.
